PODCAST

Who hurt you?

I recently discovered Sofie Hagan’s podcast “Who hurt you?” and listened to two episodes back to back at the weekend! Not the most cheerful-sounding content I’ll grant you, but I find so much comfort and compassion in listening to people openly talk about their lives and struggles but also how they’re working through them and living their lives. If you don’t know Sofie Hagan I recommend looking them up regardless, their stand up shows are brilliantly and honestly funny and their Instagram account is a space of supportive and nuanced discussion around subjects such as fatphobia, gender and feminism. And they are funny. I promise! ~ Emma

Jon Hopkins with Ram Dass, East Forest – Sit Around The Fire (Official Video)

I’ve been fortunate enough to spend every Tuesday since September hanging out with this incredible home-education community at the South London Scout Hut in East Dulwich.

We’ve been taking part in these healing drumming circles and for the last month have been sitting around a fire, by the trees. These sessions have been so nourishing for my health and wellbeing – I hope we can bring some of this magic to The Village one day soon!

Then this video was sent to me recently and it has reminded me of the beauty and simplicity of fires and how the fire within us can lead us to the work that needs to be done to heal.

This is such an incredible piece of art – I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! ~ Yasmin

TV

Animal

I’ve been watching the Animal docuseries on Netflix. I like it because it shows these animals in a bit of a different light to other docs and is narrated by some famous peeps e.g. Rebel Wilson does the Marsupial one. ~ Sarah

CAMPAIGN

Soft Plastic Recycling

I was delighted to see my local Coop now recycles soft plastics. In fact, many now have recycling bins for you to deposit your soft plastic (purchased from any shop, it doesn’t have to be bought at the Coop!).

Soft plastics are lightweight plastics that often cannot be placed in recycling bins at home. Think plastic film lids on yoghurt pots, soft fruit punnets and ready meals, as well as plastic crisp packets, pasta bags and chocolate or biscuit wrappers.

I was getting down by how much I was shoving into the bin and thinking of it ending up in land fill, or worse still, some poorer (less powerful) country’s shoreline. It’s refreshing to see a large retailer taking action and not just making a “pledge” or greenwashing. I know it’s small in comparison to the task at hand but let’s hope small efforts add up.

Here’s a link to what can and what can’t be recycled …..

Nice one Co-op! ~ Lisa
